Protection For
Every Application
Early systems that utilized RS-232 interfaces, which ran along at 19.6Kbps, were compatible with the higher capacitance silicon TVS device technology. However, today’s data transfer rates run into the gigabit range and capacitance plays a much larger role. Designers are faced with the challenge of finding protection solutions that are compatible with higher data rate applications such as Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.x and 10G. High data rate applications require low capacitance protection solutions; which can be achieved by inserting a high voltage rectifier chip in opposite polarity of a TVS diode array.
Transient Voltage Suppression (TVS) devices provide protection at board level from the effects of Electrostatic Discharge (EFT) as defined by IEC 61000-4-2. In addition, TVS devices provide lightning and AC power fault protection meeting standard requirements such as IEC 61000-4-4, IEC 61000-4-5, Bellcore GR1089, ITU-T K20, K21 and YD/T993 (China).
